Weekly Shonen Jump's City Hunter series which ran from 1985 to 1991 is seeing a resurgence in popularity. A feature length film, "Shinjuku Private Eyes," was released in February and is doing well at the box office, despite the 20-year gap.
In addition, a live-action version of City Hunter was released in France under the title Nicky Larson. It was a huge hit, attracting over 500,000 moviegoers in five days, and it is expected to be released in Japan in 2019.
City Hunter is a hardboiled comedy which is set in Shinjuku and follows Ryo Saeba as he takes on various detective and bodyguard jobs. In the 80s an anime version was made using the hit song Get Wild as its ending theme.

週刊少年ジャンプで1985年から1991年まで連載された『シティーハンター』の人気が再び高まっています。長編の映画『新宿プライベート・アイズ』が２月に公開されて、20年ぶりにも関わらず好調です。
加えて実写版のシティーハンターがフランスで「ニッキー・ラルソン」のタイトルで公開された。５日間で50万人の動員を超える大ヒットを記録している。これは日本では2019年に公開が予定されている。
『シティーハンター』は新宿を舞台にしたハードボイルド＆コメディで、主人公の冴羽 獠（さえば りょう）が様々なボディーガードや探偵を請け負うのを描く。80年代にはアニメ化もされ、ヒット曲の『Get Wild』がエンディングテーマに使われている。
